HERITAGE FESTIVAL - 11th OF APRIL 2026
As part of Palmerston North's 2026 Heritage Festival, Foxton's big day includes visits to historical buildings to help people discover the stories and heritage of Te Awahou Foxton. Featuring Foxton Courthouse, Nye Cottage, De Molen, MAVtech and flax production history.
MAVtech (National Museum of Audio Visual Technology) is based in the Coronation Town Hall in Foxton. The hall turns 100 years old in November 2026!
Marvel at the wide array of radios, recording equipment, cameras, cinema equipment, televisions, musical machines and camcorders. There will be a screening of vintage newsreels and short clips in the cinema from 2-2:30pm. MAVtech is one of only a handful of theatres in the world that still regularly shows 35mm films using carbon arc projectors.
Foxton Historical Society Retro Film Matinee
At 1.30pm on Sunday 9 June 2024, the Foxton Historical Society, in association with MAVtech Museum, will present a programme of historical Foxton-related short films.Projectionist Gavin Cowern will screen the film show.
Entry by donation - MAVtech (Museum of Audio Visual Technology) is at the Coronation Hall, corner Main St and Avenue Rd, Foxton. MAVtech's doors will open at 1pm so guests can see the museum before the screening begins.
